Rosenstigen is named after a rose found in monastery environments, Rosa alba ‘Gudhem’. A nature trail, about 2 km, through a cultural landscape that tells the story of how people have lived here for thousands of years.
The smithery in Varnhem was located by the old road to Ljungstorp – here seen on an aerial photo from 1951. The smithery was in use from the end of the 19th century, and was demolished in the beginning of the 1990’s. On the field in the photograph there is an old washhouse which was one of the 21 buildings that was taken by the flames in the big village fire in 1979.
