From the beginning of the 19th century there was a little cottage for the poor and less fortunate here and it was located close to the old country road. During th 20th century it housed different workers such as tailors, and from 1928 the family Ohlsson. Johan Oskar Ohlsson, the man with the big beard in the picture, was a churchwarden for many years, and also one of the first guides for the monastery and church. He also wrote the first guidebook for Varnhem.
