Here in the Valle area we are not modest – the area is marketed as “Vallevägen - the world's most beautiful road”. Roughly 20 small business owners have joined forces to highlight the area's assets and resources. This involves both artists, producers, traders and B&B’s. The nature in the area is characterized by the kame landscape with its rolling hills. This type of landscape is considered unique in the world - it was formed when the inland ice retreated. There are over 60 km of hiking trails, and the area is known for all the tens of thousands cherry trees that blossom here during May.
Eahagen – Öglunda ängar is a deciduous forest containing almost tropically lush vegetation. You find the meadows in the middle of the Valle area, on lakes Ämten and Flämsjön. On the neck of land beneath the lakes, the isthmus, lies Eahagen itself, a grove of broadleaved deciduous trees such as oak, elm, small-leaved lime and wild cherry. The flora is favoured by the lime-rich ground. In spring and early summer, the land is in bloom, with spring pea, lungwort and coralroot, and is especially recommended for anyone who loves flowers. Bird lovers may see and hear the wryneck, wood warbler, nightingale and several woodpecker species.
The reserve, which protects some of the most precious natural areas in the Vallebygden region, is in its entirety a well preserved ancient cultural landscape with broad-leaved deciduous forest. The reserve also contains two Iron Age burial grounds and scattered graves.
